6.Nipple inversion or retraction
An inverted nipple is a condition in which the nipple is pulled inward instead of outward except when stimulated.
In case of breast cancer nipple inversion happens when the tumor attacks the duct behind the nipple, pulling it in. It should be reported by the physician especially when there are other symptoms.
It may occur in one breast only or both breasts. About 9- 10 % of women have at least one inverted nipple.
Some nipples only invert sometimes and can be inverted after changes in temperature or stimulation. Also, men can also suffer from nipple retraction.
It is common for the breasts to change in appearance overtime or after breastfeeding, while newly inverted nipples are common symptom of breast cancer,
